My Top 2 Things You Can Do to Feel Better
After nearly two decades of clinical practice, thousands of patient sessions, and my own journey through healing — I keep coming back to two things. Two things that are simple, free, and available to everyone right now.
1. Practice Feeling
This might sound strange, but most of us have forgotten how to feel. Not how to have emotions — we’re drowning in those — but how to actually feel what’s happening in our body in this moment.
When I say “practice feeling,” I mean: put your attention in your body. Not your head. Your body. Feel the weight of your hands. Feel the temperature of the air on your skin. Feel your breath — not thinking about your breath, but actually feeling it move.
This is the foundation of every healing tradition I’ve ever studied. The body heals through awareness. When we bring genuine, curious attention to what we’re feeling — without trying to fix it, change it, or analyze it — something shifts. The nervous system settles. The body begins to self-regulate.
You can do this anywhere. Right now. It takes 30 seconds.
2. Breathe with Intention
The breath is the bridge between the conscious and unconscious nervous system. It’s the one autonomic function we can also control voluntarily. This makes it the single most powerful tool we have for changing our state.
I’m not talking about complicated breathwork practices. I’m talking about three conscious breaths. Slow inhale. Slower exhale. Let the exhale be longer than the inhale. Feel it.
When we breathe with intention — even for just a few breaths — we activate the parasympathetic nervous system. We signal safety to the body. We create space between stimulus and response.
Why These Two?
Because they are always available. You don’t need a teacher, a studio, a subscription, or a supplement. You need your body and your breath. That’s it.
I believe that vibrant health is mostly simple and free. These two practices are the proof.
